UniCore

Welcome to the official documentation reference of UniCore - the free and open-source SSI agent!

Why "agent"?

The "agent" in "SSI agent" has nothing to do with AI agents.

In self-sovereign identity (SSI), an agent is the software that acts on behalf of an identity owner, such as a person or an organization. It manages their keys and decentralized identifiers (DIDs), and it issues, holds, presents and verifies credentials by communicating with the agents of other parties, such as wallets.

Where to start

  • New to UniCore? Read What is UniCore? and follow the Quick Start to issue and verify your first credential locally.
